I see it more like DA has lost sight of their mission with the facebook ripoffs and people not wanting another social media site, leading DA down the path of Friendster and MySpace and AOL.
I've never seen this much dislike on any previous changes.
This is a business. If the majority of your clients don't like what you're selling, you need to change your business plan.
Let's put it in art terms then.
If I (as a professional journalist/writer) write a piece that is not up to my usual standards, my editor will 1) send it back for revisions, 2) refuse to print it and use my work less (resulting in loss of money and reputation), or 3) fire me. The same would've gone for when I wrote small pieces for No Shame Theatre, for when I write public relations, &tc. When I write fiction or poetry, those I submit it to have the option to not accept it if it doesn't fit their editorial style.
Likewise, should an advertising agency hire someone on the basis of their portfolio and say, "we'd like work in your style," should the artist suddenly decide to change styles without consulting the client, they will not have their work used or get paid.
And someone commissioning a fine artist for a portrait will also expect certain things, so switching from classic style to cubism for a portrait will cause trouble.
That said, Deviant Art isn't a work of art. It's business, much like MySpace and Friendster were. And the clients seem to overwhelmingly NOT want it to be a social media site. And should DA not pay attention to what pleases people, they will likely end up like MySpace and Friendster -- unused, abandoned, and forgotten except as the butt of jokes told by old techies.

Looking for help
So my employer cut me to part time at the beginning of June, and on my way to an interview for a new job on June 21, my car blew up. Seriously, the engine block blew a hole in itself.
As it's cheaper to buy another car than to fix it ($3,500-$4,500 was the estimate for a used engine), I'm looking for a new car. And I'm also needing help to raise the money for it after last year's medical bills.
I've found that the $5, $10 and $20 assistance people have slipped me in person have begun to add up. So if you could help with even a little bit, it would keep me from being homeless and or in creditor's court.
Here's the Go Fund Me link.

Looking for black and white art for a tmblr blog
While searching tumblr for pen and ink art (my books on it are in storage), I couldn't find a blog dedicated to black and white ink drawings.
So of course, I created one and included some artists I admire and like: https://penandinkinbandw.tumblr.com/
Now I need to keep adding to it. So I need more artists to fill it regularly. Can you suggest some artists for it, either from here or from the big world and total history of inked art?
There's one simple rule: it must be excellent work -- not good or acceptable but great and exceptional. It can be simple but must still be incredible.
The art I've included so far should give you an idea of w
Would people like to see more writing?
I seem to have picked up a few followers from my writings about the new logo unveiling and lack of desired features on DA.
Would people like to see more writing from me and on what subjects -- on journalism, on non-fiction writing, or more non-fiction writing?

More thoughts on retreats, sequestering, Stockholm
As a reporter for 27 years, I've seen too many consultants who get overpaid to tell people/government officials how smart/insightful/cutting edge they are in following the consultants' expertise. I saw it again last night at a municipal meeting, where the consultant was chirpily telling the City Council and people assembled how unique their participation was. He worked to find anything that was different, then used it to explain why they'll succeed at what they paid him to do. It felt like being at a camp where everyone gets an award because "they're all winners."
It was that kind of award-camp mentality that some of us responded to when I w
